Linas Lekavicius is able to get to the rim with regularity but he has shown great comfort in pulling up for the three. He not only is a tremendous shooter, but a tenacious defender who often shuts down players who were bigger and taller.
In the recent Open Gym event (gathering of all the best players in Virginia), Linus displayed his uncanny shooting abilities. According to Miller School basketball Coach Wade Harbin, Linus was frequently matched against PG Vern Hamilton. "While Vern might have a slight edge in court vision, Linus showed he was a more prolific shooter. He more than held his own overall."
While stats may get him noticed, work ethic is what sets Linas apart from other great players. Coach Harbin explains, "Linas has a true passion for the game. He works constantly on improving his game and his understanding of the game."
He also takes this work ethic into the classroom. His current GPA is 3.0, this while his native language is Lithuanian.
Junior accolades for Linus include Conference Player of the Year, All-State, All-Conference, and Tournament MVP. Miller School finished the year with a 21-6, 8-2 record.
His junior stats were 25 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 3.4 steals per game. American, Clemson, N.C. State, Wake Forest are Linas' favorites at this point.
