Possible Point Guard Prospects In 07

With the 06 class signed,it's time to see where the Demon Deacons stand with some of the 2007 recruits. Here's a look at some possible point guard targets.

Point Guards

The Demon Deacons will likely have two or three scholarships available for the 2007 class, so there's not doubt about it, the Deacs will be very selective with who they go after.

The point guard position the past few years has been manned by one of the best in the business, in Chris Paul. With Ishmael Smith on board in the class of 2006, who will the Demon Deacons go after for the class of 2007?

Among the point guards that Skip Prosser and company are after is Kalin Lucas. Lucas is a shifty and smart point guard that knows how to lead a team. Lucas is hearing from a number of top teams in the country including Michigan, Michigan State, Wake Forest, Kansas, and Illinois. Michigan and Michigan State will be tough to beat out for his services.

Chris Wright, of Washington, D.C., is a well known prospect as well. Wright is a great scorer, but can still run the point guard position with very good efficiency. He is hearing from North Carolina State, Duke, Villanova, Kansas, and Wake Forest.

Ranked as the 12th best point guard in the class of 2007 is Malcolm Delaney. Wake, Virginia Tech, Virginia, and Maryland are all in with Delaney. Not sure how high Wake's interest level is with Delaney, but he's one to keep an eye on.

Martavis Kee has already been on a bundle of campuses for unofficial visits. He's traveled to Winston-Salem, Florida State, Virginia Tech and South Florida. V-Tech and South Florida have already offered the 6-foot-2 guard. Michigan State and Illinois are also in the mix as well.

Wake Forest has family connections with Brock Young, however he is very small at 5-foot-10. Young as well as James Beatty are two other local point guards that Wake fans should keep an eye on.
