McCamey Has Long List

Wake Forest is recruiting a number of point guards in the class of 2007 and Demetri McCamey is one of them. caught up with's 14th best point guard.

Demetri McCamey, of St. Joseph HS (IL), really has his high school team on a roll. The 6-foot-4 point guard has led them to a 16-1 record by averaging 15 points and 7 assists.

But the stat McCamey is most fond of is his four steals. The 14th ranked point guard in the 2007 class has picked up his defense and is really becoming a terror for opposing point guards.

"That was one of the knocks on me," McCamey said about his defense. "That I didn't play hard on the defense end so I've picked it up this year."

But like most point guards, what McCamey does best is get the whole team involved throughout the game.

"I like to share the ball because I think if you share the ball everyone plays equal," he said. "I like to pass first and I can also score. I just like to get my teammates involved."

There are quite a few schools that are trying to get involved with McCamey. He said the schools recruiting him the hardest are Illinois, Kentucky, Wake Forest, Clemson, Virginia, Michigan State, Michigan, Purdue, UConn and Miami.

He also claims offers from Michigan State, Purdue, DePaul and Wake Forest. And he has even taken a few visits. Notre Dame, Illinois and Michigan State have all received unofficials from McCamey.

One school that he hasn't visited yet, but has kept in contact with is Wake Forest. According to McCamey the Demon Deacons have been showing a lot interest as of late and are really filling up his mailbox.

"There has been a lot of mail almost every day from them. Almost three or four letters a day," McCamey explained. "I talked to them like two weeks ago, but I haven't had any free times the past two weeks because we've been doing finals. I plan on giving them a call Saturday after our game."

"I like their style of play and how they let their guards run their team. And I liked Chris Paul when he went there."
