Deacs Visiting Sallie?

The Demon Deacons don't appear done with the class of 2006 as they seem to be pursuing a guard from The Patterson School. DeaconSports.com spoke with guard, Roburt Sallie, about his recruiting situation.

Roburt Sallie is no longer a Washington commit, so let the phone calls begin. The 6-foot-6 guard decided to reopen his recruitment and has already heard a bunch of top schools.

Memphis, Wake Forest, Marquette, Maryland and Auburn are some of the schools that have started recruiting him already. According to Sallie, the Demon Deacons are even planning to catch him in action pretty soon.

"There's Wake Forest, I'm supposed to be going down there pretty soon for an unofficial," Sallie explained Tuesday night. "They are coming up tomorrow. We have a home game tomorrow and they are coming."

There are a few reasons that Sallie is looking at the Demon Deacons and it doesn't hurt that he's already been on their campus.

"Like I said Wake Forest is in my top five. I like the program. I was up there for the Bob Gibbons camp. And I just kind of got a feel for the facility. I didn't get to see the arena but I did like the way their school is," Sallie explained. "Once I get up there and see the campus and talk to the coaches more and meet the players. I'm pretty sure they'll be one of my top schools I can tell you that."

Sallie, who is originally from California, said that he wants to go to school with someone he has played with before. And he says one of his high school teammates is headed to Wake Forest next year.

"We also have a player that is going to Wake Forest next year," Sallie said referring to Dominique Sutton. "I want to go somewhere where I have somebody I've played with. I am a west coast kid if I go to school with someone I know out here it would be a lot easier for me."

"Dominique is going to go there. And I know how there players are. The program their and the prestige is already set."

Although he's very high on Wake Forest, Sallie is going to give everyone an equal opportunity. He has friends on Memphis' team so they are heavily involved. But Washington is still in the picture as well.

"Washington is not out of the picture. It's a great possibility that I could still be going to Washington when signing period come. There's also that percentage that I could go to another school. It's in the air...I'm just going to let this recruiting begin. It's just now developing because I just opened it up officially a couple of days ago and it's getting out on the internet and stuff and I'll see how it goes and I'm going to take some visits."
