Patterson's Recruitment Heats Up

This past weekend, Patrick Patterson, a forward out of Huntington, West Virginia, visited Kentucky. DeaconSports caught up with Patterson following his visit to check in on his visit as well as his current stance on his recruitment.

As many fans who follow recruiting know, the recruiting process is a wild and crazy procedure. But with Patrick Patterson, it seems like he is just taking it all in.

The 6-foot-8, 234-pound power forward is starting to receive a lot of attention on the recruiting front. The schools that he likes right now are Wake Forest, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Connecticut and Kentucky.

Of the five schools he likes right now, Connecticut is the only one that hasn't offered him a scholarship yet. He's also been on a few visits as Patterson has already tripped to Wake Forest and this past weekend he went to Lexington for Kentucky's game against Arkansas.

"I went to Kentucky today. Tubby's a cool guy," Patterson said. "It was nice. I got to see Kentucky play Arkansas. Kentucky came out on top. The atmosphere in Rupp Arena is crazy."

Patterson said he took a tour of their campus, visited the basketball offices and then went and watched the Wildcats game.

After the visit Patterson said that he still has no favorites and that he doesn't want to make a decision until "next year."

While is recruitment has heated up, so has his game. Patterson is averaging 14 points, 13 rebounds and 6 blocks per game. But he still is trying to improve certain aspects so he is ready for college ball.

"My ball handling and my moves facing the basket," Patterson said when asked what he was working on the most. "I'm working on [my jump shot] too."
