Coach: Godfrey Can Do Everything

Dennis Godfrey made a visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend and returned home Sunday. Shortly thereafter, he narrowed his choices to Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. We caught up with Godfrey's coach at Lee Senior, Jody Stouffer, for the latest on Godfrey's recruitment.

"He got up [to Virginia Tech] Saturday and got back late Sunday night," Coach Stouffer said of Dennis Godfrey. "He came this morning and talked to me and said he had a good trip. Justin Harper who I coached when I was at Bandys High School was his host. Now he just has to make his decision."

That decision will be a tough one according to Coach Stouffer. After official visits to Virginia, Virginia Tech, Clemson, South Carolina, and Wake Forest, Godfrey must now weigh the pros and cons of each school and make a final decision. "Me and his mother, we're sitting down with him this evening and trying to figure things out," Stouffer said Monday afternoon.

At this point, Godfrey notes that he is down to just two schools, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech. According to Coach Stouffer, the Hokies or Deacons will pick up a player who can be a positive asset to his future program both on the field and in the locker room.

"He's the type of player that can do everything," Stouffer said. "He was the one constant with our team this year and is what I'd consider the cornerstone of our program. We started 0-3 and he kept everyone up, everyone excited, and pumped. He's a great athlete and goes 100% every time out and on top of that he's got great character."

Stouffer noted that Godfrey will tell the coaches of his decision Tuesday and will make public his final decision on Wednesday at a 1:30 press conference at Lee Senior.

This past season, Godfrey finished with 27 catches for 250 yards, one touchdown, 11 pancake blocks, 12 tackles for a loss, three sacks, three caused fumbles, and three blocked kicks.
