The Demon Deacons began their quest for the college World Series Friday night at Ernie Shore Field as Regional action began. The Deacons were able to defeat George Washington.
Kyle Sleeth and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons began the NCAA tournament Friday night with a 12-6 win over George Washington. Although the Deacons were given a scare early in the game as George Washington took an early 3-0 lead, Wake Forest put up 9 runs in the 4th inning including a grand slam by Jamie D'Antona. The Deacons never looked back.
Although Kyle Sleeth did not put up an entirely dominating performance, he had 11 strikeouts on his way to 14-0 on the season. An estimated crowd of almost 4,000 was on hand.
Wake Forest will face Richmond Saturday at 3:00 PM at Ernie Shore Field in Winston-Salem. Richmond won Friday as well. Below are photos from Friday's game (taken by Christopher Cagle).
