Richmond's star pitcher Tim Stauffer pitched seven innings, holding the Deacons to two runs, only one of which was earned. The Spiders, the number two seeded team in the region, put up three runs in the first four innings and were able to hold on to defeat the regional's number one team, Wake Forest 3-2.

Seth Hill, the Deacon's starting pitcher gave up two runs early and was replaced after only three innings by Adam Hanson. Although Hanson only allowed one run for the rest of the game, Wake Forest never really got the offense going and was forced into another game Saturday night with Navy to fight for survival.

Against Navy, the Deacs came out strong taking a commanding 7-0 lead at one point. Tim Morley pitched all nine innings giving up only one run as Wake Forest went on to an easy 13-1 victory.

The Deacons will be in action again Sunday as they need two victories over Richmond to advance out of the Region. The first game will be at 1:30 at Ernie Shore Field. If Wake Forest is able to win, the Regional finals will be held soon after the ending of the 1:30 game.
