Smith Helps Stock

Tracy Smith, of Mt. Zion, is playing well for Tony Fozard's squad. Smith updated DeaconSports.com on his recruitment and his latest statistics.

Tracy Smith, of Mt. Zion (NC), decided to reclassify to the class of 2007. It might just have been a good decision for Smith, who said that he is starting to receive more interest from colleges.

Michigan, Michigan State and Wake Forest are the schools that Smith said are showing the most interest.

"It's going good for me," Smith said of the reclassification. "My coach told me that I was getting better looks so I think it's going good."

This season Smith is averaging 25 points and 9 boards and is getting majority of his points in between the blocks.

"I'm a down low player but I can step out and shoot the 15-footer," Smith said. "But I can't be stopped in the post though."

"I'm trying to get my dribbles and jump shot better because I lost a lot of weight so I might be too little to play the four."

Smith was over 270 pounds but has lowered his weight to 225 pounds and stands 6-foot-8. He said most of his weight was lost due to hard work in the gym by running as well as drinking a lot of water.
