Wake Signee A Playmaker

When Wake Forest picked up a commitment from Georgia athlete Marcus Williams as signing day approached, very few knew much about the 5'9, 170-pounder.

Marcus Williams still isn't a household name and the amount of information available on the Eagles Landing (GA) High star is still slim but, according to his head football coach, he is a player who could really make a difference at the next level.

"He's a leader, he's competitive," Coach Bob Stinchcomb said of Williams. "He wants to win and the team follows him. He's done some really great things for us here."

Coach Stinchcomb sees Williams as a leader on and off the field, but he also believes that Williams has the attitude football players need – a "want the ball" mentality. "When a play needs to be made, he makes it," Stinchcomb said. "He likes that pressure. He doesn't shy away from it."

This past season, Williams played quarterback for Eagles Landing High School and rushed for 1,089 yards and threw for 790 yards.
