Scouting Report: Victor Davilla

A scouting report on 2008 basketball prospect Victor Davilla from Boonville, North Carolina.

Victor Davila is a 6'9" 220 pound prospect out of Starmount High School. The Boonville, North Carolina prospect prospect is a member of the class of 2008 and we had the opportunity to watch him in action when Starmount played North Surry High in Mt. Airy earlier this month.

The hometown North Surry fans made a lot of noise to help their team but it was not enough as Starmount pulled out an OT win. Victor got two early fouls and played sparingly in the first half but played most of the 2nd half without fouling out.

He is a talented big man who has great hands and some impressive footwork for a sophomore still learning the game. He also is an impressive shot blocker who has excellent timing although trying to block everything (he had four in the first quarter) did lead him to a couple of fouls. Davilla runs the floor very well for a kid this size and looks like he has good free throw technique along with a soft touch.

He did not try any shots outside of four feet or so and has a lot of improvement to make in his ball handling -- but you can see the talent is there to keep improving.

Skip Prosser is one of many head coaches to make the trek to Boonville to see this exciting prospect. Other ACC head and assistant coaches have also been to see Davilla this season.

Victor, from Puerto Rico, is already 6'9, 220, but it appears he could grow a little more judging from the size of his feet, which are enormous!

We will continue to monitor the progress of this intriguing prospect and keep you updated on his play and recruitment.
