Johnson Mentions The Deacs

JaJuan Johnson is leading the state of Indiana in blocks and is really looking more and more like a potential top 50 player. He updated DeaconSports.com on his recent play and recruitment.

JaJuan Johnson was expected to give his high school quality minutes this year, but he has even surpassed that goal. The long and lanky 6-10 power forward has his stats up and is leading the state in blocks.

With just one game remaining he is averaging 16 points, 9 boards and around 6 blocks per game. The Franklin Central HS product has led his team to a 13-7 record in a very competitive league in Indy.

"We have a good chance," Johnson said about the playoffs. "We have beaten every team in our section except for one and we didn't play them. We are doing pretty good."

"I've played good and I've learned a lot during the season. I'm just trying to get better and better. Just trying to play stronger and use what I got and use my quickness."

Among the schools showing interest in the class of 2007 forward are Purdue, Xavier, Virginia, Wake Forest, UConn, Marquette and UK. However there were two schools recruiting him at the beginning of his recruitment and that has weighed on him.

"I like them all," he said. "The only thing is Purdue and Xavier they showed me more interest when it all first started. But I do like them all."

Schools that have offered him a scholarship are Purdue, Xavier, Butler, Indiana State, Ball State and Virginia. Johnson plans on taking some visits and try and come to a decision before the end of AAU season.
