Lawson Attends WFU Junior Day

At 6'3, 280, Henry Lawson is an imposing figure at the high school level. It's that size and his work ethic that have helped him earn the attention of many ACC schools – including Wake Forest.

The Demon Deacons have shown heavy interest in Henry Lawson, an offensive lineman out of Charlotte Catholic in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Deacons have been writing Lawson in recent months and also invited him to their junior day on February 19th.

"I just went up for an unofficial to see a basketball game," Lawson said of his visit to Winston-Salem. "That was the Wake-UNC game. I took a tour and it was nice – I liked it there."

Wake Forest was Lawson's first junior day stop, but it is certainly not his last. Lawson, who visited Wake Forest along with teammate Ben Herlocker, will also visit North Carolina next weekend with Herlocker and will also visit Auburn. He is also hearing from other schools around the area.

"I've heard from Wake a bit, I getting daily letters from the ACC schools and the local schools. Of course there's [North] Carolina, Wake [Forest], [North Carolina] State, [and] South Carolina."

This summer, Lawson will attend the Nike Camp in Georgia, the Shrine Bowl Combine at Butler High School, the camp at Durham, and a MSL Combine. He will also attend camps at most of the ACC schools while also working hard in the weight room.

All of the work Lawson will put in this spring and summer are in preparation for not only college, but also to prepare him for his senior season. After all, Lawson has a lofty streak to help continue. Charlotte Catholic has won all 32 games since Lawson began playing varsity football at the school. "Last year we were undefeated,16-0 and state champs," Lawson noted. "Two-time state champs, 32-0. We haven't lost [since I've been there and] I'm planning on keeping that going."
