Mattiace Earns Second Win of 2002

Former Deacon Golfer Len Mattiace won his second tournament of the year Sunday at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.

Len Mattiace came into Sunday's final round at the FedEx St. Jude Classic seven strokes behind leader Glen Hnatiuk. After firing a bogey-free, 7 under par round of 64, Mattiace completed the largest one round comeback of the year on the PGA Tour.

Mattiace, who played at Wake Forest during the late 80's and was a part of the 1986 Demon Deacon national championship team, played a few holes ahead of the rest of the leaders and was forced to wait for the others to finish. Tim Petrovic barely missed a long putt on the 18th that would have tied Mattiace, but finished the tournament one stroke back.

For Mattiace this was his second PGA Tour victory of 2002. The only other players on the PGA Tour with more than one win are Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
