New Schools Jumping On Delaney

Donte Green is the star of Team Melo, but Malcolm Delaney is pretty good himself. The 6-3 guard looked good, at the King James Shooting Classic, going to the basket and showed off a nice touch on the floater.

Malcolm Delaney didn't play much at the point guard spot in his game Saturday night against D-One Sports, however, he has the skills to play both guard positions. Leadership is something that he tries to provide when he's on the court.

"Helping my teammates out and leading and my floor presence, I know the game well," Delaney said when asked about his biggest strength as a player. "If they are keying on me then I know how to get everyone else involved."

There are a few parts to his game that need a little work. He mentioned that his strength isn't where it needs to be and, while he hit pair of threes in his game Saturday, his distance shooting needs a little work.

Delaney has already taken visits to Wake Forest, Maryland, Virginia and Georgetown, but there are some other schools that are starting to show interest.

"I got a lot of new schools that are starting to get on me," Delaney said. "Pitt and Indiana are the two new schools that are recruiting me a lot. Right now they are Virginia Tech, Maryland, Pitt and Indiana.

Wake Forest at one point was high on his list, are the Demon Deacons still recruiting him?

"Yeah they were recruiting me hard. But they said they might need a 06 guard because of how their season went this year. They don't know if they are going to take a 06 or 07."

On June 3rd Delaney will take the SATs and then he hopes to set up a visit with Pittsburgh. A common theme among recruits is they are looking for a coach that will help get them to the next level and that's exactly what Delaney said.

"A school that is going to get me somewhere after college," he said when about what he wanted in a school. "Then a coach that really loves the kids and will help me improve my game and get me to my next level."
