McCamey Picks Up Scholarship Offers

Demetri McCamey took the court in Fort Wayne, IN., for the Spiece Run N' Slam. After one of his pool play games he sat down with Evan Daniels, of, to talk about his recruitment.

The Illinois Wolves have found themselves deep in the playoffs in most of the AAU tournaments they have been involved in this spring. In the King James Shooting Stars Classic they made it to the final four and this weekend they have advanced in the Spiece Run N' Slam.

One of the reasons they are advancing is because they are fundamentally sound and that starts with their point guard, Demetri McCamey. The Westchester (IL) St. Joseph's product was steady all weekend and he used his strong body to get to the basket, but found ways to get his teammates open as well.

It's been quite a spring for McCamey, who said that he picked up a pair of scholarship offers because of his play last weekend in Akron.

"I did real good," he said of his spring play. "I got an offer from Wake Forest and Indiana last week because of King James. So I think I've played extremely well this spring."

He mentioned schools like Wake Forest, Illinois, Indiana, Virginia, Miami (FL), Connecticut and Kentucky as the ones trailing him the hardest. However, he isn't ready to make any kind of decision, anytime soon.

"It's going good right now, but I'm still open," he said at the Spiece Run N' Slam tournament. "I'm just going to narrow it down probably right before school starts."

So what is he looking for in a school?

"A good education and probably less students, I want to go to a small school and also one with a good atmosphere and good coaches."
