Deacs In Church's Top Three

As Damian Church continues to wait for that first elusive scholarship offer, interested schools continue to evaluate the 6-foot-5, 270-pound offensive tackle.

"Things are going very well," said Church. "No offers at all. A couple coaches came through my high school like Wake Forest, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Penn State, and a couple of other coaches. I have a few emails to my computer from a couple of coaches – Maryland and Wake Forest."

To help the process, Church figures to attend a handful of camps this summer with Penn State being the only for sure destination.

The lack of offers hasn't prevented Church from establishing favorites.

"I really like Notre Dame and Maryland and Wake Forest are my top three," said Church. "I like the coaching staffs, I like how they coach their team, and their team record."

As a junior at Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor, Church played offensive tackle and defensive end where he earned first team all-region and first team all-district honors.
