Stamper Performs Well On Combine Tour

West Forsyth athlete John Stamper has had a good summer at combines around the state and has proven he belongs in the same breath with the best athletes in North Carolina. Stamper also made his commitment this summer, pledging to Wake Forest.

DeaconSports caught up with the future Deacon safety, John Stamper, to check on his early summer successes.

This spring and summer, John Stamper has attended several combines and has proven his worth each time out. After an impressive performance at the Scout.com All-American Combine in Durham earlier this spring, he showed well once again at the invitation only Shrine Bowl combine held in Chapel Hill.

Stamper helped to lock down many of the top wide receivers in the state in the 7-on-7 drills as well as individual one-on-ones. "I thought I did real good, especially on one-on-ones, coverages, and controlling the back end," Stamper said of his performance.

With the combine circuit virtually over, Stamper now plans to prepare for his senior season coming up. He also continues to keep in touch with Wake's coaches each week and remains committed to the Deacs, despite interest from other schools. "They're definitely still my #1," Stamper said of Wake. "I'm really strongly committed and it feels great to know I'm going there and have that opportunity ahead." Though firmly committed, Stamper continues to receive letters from N.C. State, North Carolina, and other programs.
