'08 Guard Plans To Visit Soon

While Skip Prosser and his staff are still working on adding to the 2007 recruiting class, at least one point guard from the class of 2008 is very interested in Wake Forest and plans to visit soon.

Cashmere Wright, a 6-foot, 160-pound point guard at Urban Christian Academy in Savannah, Ga., lists Wake Forest as one of his early favorites. Wright said he has heard from Tennessee, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Connecticut, Florida State, Florida, South Carolina, Mississippi, Clemson, Cincinnati, Iowa State, Kentucky, Notre Dame and Appalachian State.

While he said he has offers from Georgia and Florida State, Wright said his early favorites are "Wake Forest and Tennessee."

"I grew up watching Wake Forest," Wright said, adding that he is a big fan of former Deacon Chris Paul. "(Paul) is not that tall, but he goes at people. He has a killer instinct. I base my game after him."

Wright said there will be two major factors in his recruitment.

"Am I going to play my freshman year, and I don't want to go too far from home," he said. He added that Wake Forest is not too far from his home in Georgia.

Wright plans to visit Wake Forest "sometime this month or next month." His father, Eugene Wright, said "He's been bothering me (about visiting Wake Forest). I've got to get him up there soon." Wright said his biggest strengths on the court are "competitiveness and winning."

"I know how to win," he said.
