Gameday: Wake Forest vs. Syracuse

Wake Forest will kick off their 2006 football campaign today with a home game with the Syracuse Orange today at Groves Stadium. Game time for the Deacs' opener with with the Big East foe is set for 6:30.

The Syracuse Orange will be in town on Saturday to face off with the Deacs in a Big East - ACC matchup. The Orange are coming off a 1-10 season a year ago with the Deacs coming off a 4-7 mark.

While the Orange have historically been a quality football program, the last couple of years have been tough for Syracuse, a squad coached by 2nd year head coach Greg Robinson.

This season, Syracuse hopes to rebound behind the arm and legs of quarterback and team captain Perry Patterson. Patterson brings experience and leadership to the quarterback position and, if he can put all his tools together, the Orange has a chance to rebound and have a good season in 2006.

While the Orange is 0-5 over the last three seasons against ACC competition, Syracuse has never faced off with the Demon Deacons.
