Two Offers For Dorty

Tristan Dorty is a guy who is most comfortable in the backfield. Unfortunately for the opposition, Dorty plays defensive end for West Rowan. Last year Dorty played a pivotal role on a team that went 13-1 and made the NC 3AA quarterfinals. Dorty was in the backfield constantly last year and amassed 32 quarterback pressures and 22 tackles for loss, including 14 sacks.

Tristan Dorty got this year's campaign off to a good start, recovering two fumbles and recording two sacks and a partially punt in a season opening win against North Rowan. In the following game, Dorty had a solid outing, including a sack in a 47-37 loss at Davie that dropped his team to 1-1. But despite the first loss coming a lot earlier this year, he still believe his team has potential.

He says that losing a lot of senior's off last year's 13-1 team has caused some folks to overlook West Rowan, but "we know what we're bringing back and what we can do if all play together." As far as his role and goals for the year, Dorty stated he'd like to play well enough to make all-conference, all-county, and all-state, and that he'd like to surpass his sack total from last year (14).

As for where he'll be causing havoc at the collegiate level, Tristan didn't take any unofficial visits this summer, but he was busy while attended the Shrine Combine and camps at Wake Forest, NC State, UNC, and Virginia Tech. And when he wasn't camping, he was working on keeping his speed up to go along with his 6'2", 240 pound frame.

Dorty lists offers from Wake Forest and Virginia, and says he's close to receiving offers from NC State, UNC, Virginia Tech. When asked about the school's he's been hearing from lately, Dorty mentioned "Wake, and I've also heard from Ole Miss lately and Clemson a while back."

So far every school he's hearing from has been recruiting him at DE except for Wake Forest and UVA, both of whom are recruiting him as a linebacker. As to whether he has a preference where he'd like to play, Tristan says, "Not really, wherever I can help the team."

At this time he has no firm plans to take any official visits, although he mentioned several schools have said he could come visit anytime he wanted, including Wake, State, and UNC.

Dorty stated he has three main things he's looking for in a school: "First, academics and if they have my major (political science, with a minor in psychology). Second, the football team, the tradition, and are they on the up-and-up…are they trying to get better. And third, the coaching staff."

He says he doesn't really have any favorites right now and that he's. "going to try to make a decision towards the middle of the season, but right now I'm just trying to take it all in stride."

Dorty has a GPA above 3.0, has already taken ACT and SAT, and says he is fully qualified.
