Winston-Salem Bound

After adding two commitments after the Deacs' win over Syracuse last week, Wake Forest was hoping to add another Wake's win over Duke. A host of football prospects were in attendance including West Rowan (NC) linebacker Tristan Dorty.

"It was a good game," Tristan Dorty said Saturday night. "I got there kind of late but I didn't get to talk to the coaches before it because I got there a little later. I enjoyed the game. I met with the coaches afterwards and I gave coach Lambert a verbal commitment."

"He said great, good to have you," Dorty continued. "He said he's looking forward to it and he took meet Coach Grobe and tell him."

While Dorty received an offer from UVa and interest from Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, Clemson, UNC, and N.C. State, it was the Deacs who won him over in the recruiting process. "At Wake, it's one of the best schools out there to get an education plus the football team is on the rise and I feel like I won't have to wait as long to get on the field at Wake," he said. "They've got great chemistry and a great staff and that's what I love."

Dorty becomes Wake's seventh verbal commitment, joining Brandon Pendergrass, Skylar Jones, Doug Weaver, Kyle Jarrett, John Stamper, and Jordan Williams.

This past season, Dorty had 70 tackles, 32 quarterback hurries, 14 sacks, and 1 interception. This season, he has 6.5 sacks while leading West Rowan to a 2-1 record.

Wake Forest recruited Dorty to play linebacker for the Deacs.
