Wallace Takes Back Pledge

Eric Wallace is back on the market. Last June he committed to Virginia but as of Wednesday that pledge has been rescinded.

Word began leaking out on Wednesday: Eric Wallace, a 6-foot-5 wing forward out of Hargrave Military Academy had de-committed from Virginia.

"It's been spinning for a while but it wasn't in motion until late yesterday," a source close to Wallace told Scout.com. "Virginia talked to him today and he still wants them to recruit him but he thinks he just made a quick decision."

Back on June 21, Wallace committed to the Cavaliers after UVa chased him hard through the spring period. A host of regional programs were after him but at the time Virginia committed itself to Wallace and he followed through with a pledge of his now.

Now Scout.com's No. 95 prospect, which by all accounts has been playing well at Hargrave after transferring in from Kernersville (N.C.) Glenn, is back on the market.

Speculation about Florida and the Gators began leaking out on Wednesday but as far as we can tell, UF's recruiting priorities remain Patrick Patterson, J.J. Hickson and James Anderson.

At the moment, all is quiet on the Wallace front but we should be able to crank out a list of interested parties by week's end. Back when Wallace committed some schools of note were Baylor, North Carolina State and Wake Forest.
