Richmond Visits Wake Forest

Skip Prosser and his staff played host to Akeem Richmond this past weekend. The 6-1, 165-pound guard took in the football game and talked with the Demon Deacon coaching staff.

"I took that yesterday," Akeem Richmond said Sunday evening. "It went pretty good. I went to the football game and everything. They have a pretty nice campus."

"We had a real good meeting with Prosser yesterday," Eric Richmond, Akeem's dad, said. "It went real well."

While he's only a sophomore, Richmond and his dad take the recruiting process seriously. Richmond has already taken unofficial visits to N.C. State, Duke and North Carolina. According to the elder Richmond the visit to Wake Forest went well.

"It went really good. Wake was actually the first school to come see him last year. They came along with Syracuse and Texas. They all came the same night. If I had to say who has really put it out there the most it'd be Florida, Wake and N.C. State and Maryalnd. All of them are just neck and neck."

"I think if he were to say this is where I want to go and wanted to verbal this early I think any of those schools would welcome that. But as a parent I think it's just too early."

The Sanford (NC) Southern Lee product averaged 22 points a game last year and has the attention of high major schools across the country. Although he's a 2009 prospect he already has a list of favorites.

"His schools, not in any order are Florida, UNC, Louisville, Maryland, N.C. State, Georgia Tech and Wake Forest."

Richmond, who was a ball boy for the Tar Heels when he was nine, will be in Chapel Hill for North Carolina's "Late Night" festivities and hopes to visit Florida soon.
