With a quick start, Murray's Kathleen squad has their eyes on a state title this year. "We always start our season with the goal of being undefeated at home and having a district championship," Murray said. "We just want to finish our mission. Our third goal is always to win the state championship. We've got a good defense, great offense, and big-time players so I think we can do that."
One of the big-time players on this season's Kathleen High squad is Murray himself and colleges have certainly taken notice. The 5'10, 165-pound cornerback from Lakeland, Florida has picked up over two dozen scholarship offers including an official offer from the Demon Deacons. "I have offers from Boise State, Minnesota, Iowa State, Indiana, Wake, Marshall, Pitt -- I"ve got about 25 offers in total. At this point, my top five would probably be Wake Forest, Minnesota, Boise State, Louisville, and Indiana."
Currently, Murray has two December visits set up, one to Wake Forest on December 1st-3rd and a visit to Minnesota. "I plan on taking all five official visits," he said. "I don't know where I'll take the other three."
What he does know, however, is that Wake Forest is a viable option for him. "So far the only coach I talk to at Wake is Coach Lobo. I watch their game every Saturday. They're 6-1. The Clemson game was a tough loss, but I like the style of play. I like the way their cornerbacks play and their schemes. It looks like a good situation for me. Hopefully I can go make my visit in December and find out Wake Forest is the place for me."
