Jeromy Jones Commits To Wake Forest

Wake Forest received a verbal commitment from Georgia high school senior Jeromy Jones this past Sunday. DeaconSports spoke with Jones Monday night about his verbal.

Wake Forest received a verbal commitment from Georgia defensive end and tight end Jeromy Jones this past week. "That's right," Jones stated, "I committed to Wake Forest on Sunday."

"It's a small school and I like the coaches up there," Jones told DeaconSports. "They've got good academics too. But the coaches seem really great – that's the main thing."

The 6-3 265 pound Jones, who visited Wake Forest earlier this summer, said that the facilities were important in his decision too. "The coaches said that all of their fieldhouses and everything will be redone so it should be all redone when I get there. I went up there early in the summer and met with coaches and they were nice."

As for his offers, UAB, Middle Tennessee, West Georgia, and others offered him early in the process while Auburn, UConn, UNC, Georgia Tech, Florida, and Georgia showed Jones heavy interest.

Jones will now tell those schools that he is done with the recruiting scene – he'll be a Demon Deacon. "It's a solid commitment," Jones said. "I'm not going to visit anywhere else."

As for his future, Jones tells DeaconSports that the staff is looking to play Jones on the defensive side of the ball. "They're looking at me at nose guard on the defensive side of the ball," Jones said. "This year I'm playing tight end and defensive end, though. I think I have good quickness for a big guy but am working on getting the 40 time down."

Jones is a strong player as well as he benches 350, squats 480, and power cleans 295 pounds while running a 4.71 40.
