Tariq Muhammed Hears From Deacs

While the Demon Deacons are still working on a few players in the class of 2007, the Deacs are also keeping track of the young kids. Skip Prosser and his staff have been in touch with Tariq Muhammed and the 6-2 PG has them in his top 5.

DeaconSports spoke with Muhammed a few days ago and the Norcross (GA) High point guard talked about the recruiting process and gave out a top five.

How was your summer?

"The summer went very well for me. I think towards to the end at some of the tournaments we didn't complete it. But I had a good summer."

How is the recruiting process going?

"Recruiting is going very well. I just got back from Florida. It went well, but it was kind of new. We checked out the midnight madness."

What schools are showing the most interest? "Wake Forest, South Carolina, Florida State, Florida, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Penn State, Duke and Illinois"

Do you have a school or a group of schools you like right now?

"Florida, Duke, Wake Forest, South Carolina and Tennessee."

What are you looking for in a school?

"Education and I know I'm going to play because talent is going to be recognized eventually. But I want to go to a system where they let the guards play, a guard oriented team. Like Chris Paul when he played for Wake Forest he was running a lot."

I know your young, but have any schools offered you a scholarship?

"Not yet, but a lot of people have wanted to commit to their school."

How are you preparing for the season?

"I've been practicing every morning at 5:30. I go to school and work out on Tuesday and Thursday, me and Al-Farouq and Gani. On Monday and Wednesdays we stay after school until 6 o'clock working on our jump shots and working on the vertimex.

Describe your game? What kind of player are you?

"I'm a pass first point guard. I can take over games and I know when to slow the ball down. I'm good with the ball in transition and I know when to set up a play. I'm just a player that you want to have on your team because I know the game."
