Deacs Lead For Murray

It's all about Wake Forest for cornerback Antwon Murray. Though other schools continue to recruit him, the Demon Deacons stand an excellent chance of sealing the deal with him in two weeks when he makes his official visit to Wake Forest.

"I'm really, really, really, really high on Wake Forest right now," Antwon Murray noted. "I talk to Coach Lobo a lot and Wake Forest is #1 on my list. I am going to go up on December 1st through 3rd and see what they're all about and if things go right, I'll be a Demon Deacon."

Although Murray has offers from Boise State, Minnesota, Iowa State, Indiana, Marshall, and Pitt, the Deacs have a large lead on all other suitors. "Wake Forest academically is second to none and they have a great student to teacher ratio and great classes. I know some places you can be overwhelmed with the number of students and people, but Wake's not like that. They've got it all going for them and Wake Forest's program is also doing great and I think I can make an impact there. If I go in and work hard, I could even make an impact early on."

Although a versatile athlete who could play corner or wide receiver, Murray is being recruited by the Demon Deacons as a cornerback. "I watch a lot of Wake games," Murray noted. "I like their corners and like their style. I like the way Gattis and those guys do things. They play hard and with emotion and that's how you've got to play.

"My play on the field, I play every down hard," he continued. "I feel like I'm a playmaker and can change the game in the right situation. If people need plays on defense, I can make them. And if they need a shutdown corner or someone to be physical with a receiver, I can do it."

This season, Murray had eight interceptions, two touchdowns, and just under 50 tackles in finishing his senior campaign with an 11-3 record.
