Jones: Another Winston-Salem Visit

One of the top prospects in the Deacs' 2007 recruiting class is Ohio quarterback Skylar Jones. A big-time quarterback prospect and elite athlete, Jones recently completed his high school season and spoke with DeaconSports about his season and his future at Wake Forest.

Skylar Jones' Middletown High School squad finished his senior season with a 7-4 record, just short of making the playoffs. "We played a lot of top notch teams this year and the four of them we lost to had a combined record of 33-7 and went to the playoffs," Jones noted. "We played them to the wire, we didn't quite pull them off and were just short of making it to the playoffs."

Although his team fell short of the playoffs, Jones noted that he had a good senior season and matured as a quarterback. "I think I did a whole lot better than last year," he said. "From a quarterback standpoint and not letting things get to me, I did much better. I just went out there and had fun."

This past weekend, Jones visited Wake Forest again and enjoyed his time in Winston-Salem. "It was a good visit," he noted. ["Saturday,] half of our recruiting class was at the game which was great. I already know all them now. Right now with the season done and all, I'm just going to keep working out and getting ready for track."

Jones, who has visited Wake Forest for the Syracuse game along with the Virginia Tech game, is still firmly committed to Wake Forest and looking forward to joining the Wake Forest family. "I'm most definitely still [committed to Wake,"] he noted. "It's just the family atmosphere. The players and everyone knows each other so well. The coaching staff is great, the academics of course and then the ACC, it just can't be beat."
