Josh Gattis: It felt great. They've been with us the whole time. From the beginning they've been pulling us through. They've been through the past seasons when we couldn't quite get over the hump. To go out there and win the game, not only are we winning for this team, program, and school, but we're winning it for the fans.
3-4 pass interference calls but no touchdowns for Calvin Johnson – worth the trade?
Josh Gattis: Definitely worth the trade. I'm not going to comment on the [pass interference] calls, but in the end we got the win and that's all you can say. We gave up no touchdowns and that was a great defensive effort. We knew it was going to be a defensive battle with two tough defenses and I'm glad to see guys stepped up.
Do you feel like Abbate was back to himself out there today?
Josh Gattis: Oh he was. That's one guy they never blocked the whole day. All I kept hearing was Jon Abbate on the tackle, Jon Abbate on the tackle. Just to see the fire he played with…I remember one time he came to the sideline and he said ‘Gat, you know what. They can't block me, they just can't block me.' When I saw it in his eyes, I knew he couldn't be blocked and he would make a lot of players.
You're heading to the Orange Bowl. It's got to be a dream come true for you.
Josh Gattis: Oh definitely. Especially for the seniors out there. We've never given up on each other. And then there are the young guys who will get valuable experience out of this. I'm jus t so happy to be a part of Wake Forest and be a part of the senior class to leave out on a high note like this.
When you came to Wake, the program won some games here and there but wasn't a contender every year. What do you feel this will do for the program?
Josh Gattis: This is a huge step for the program. We're showing people that Wake Forest has a lot of players and can win these games. For the guys coming back next year, their goal is going to be to come back here and win it again. We have the style, we have the coaching and we have the players. It feels great to win here and be going to the Orange Bowl.
