Boyer: Four Remain

New Jersey tight end Matt Boyer continues to mull over his college decision. A three-star jumbo athlete prospect, Boyer is down to four schools – including Wake Forest.

This past weekend, Matt Boyer made a trip to the Midwest, visiting Northwestern. "It went very well," Boyer said of his visit. "I liked everything about it and got a good feel for it. The coaches were great, there are younger guys there, and I got a good feel for the players."

Along with Northwestern, Boyer has also visited Wake Forest and the Demon Deacons remain as one of his favorites. "I'm nothing but impressed with [Wake Forest,"] Boyer noted. "Winning the ACC is amazing. It's a big accomplishment and they're a great school. They've got it all going for them right now."

"[As for my list of top schools,] it's just definitely Wake Forest still one of my top. Basically Wake Forest, Northwestern, and two Ivy Leagues that I will visit in the next two weeks. I'm visiting Princeton this weekend and Harvard next weekend."

"With the Ivy League schools, it's the best education in the world you can get. I also got financial aid from each so that's important that they'll get me some type of money. I've got to check them out because they'll be a great opportunity. Football is very important but the degree is what can take me places."

Although Boyer has made visits to two of his four top schools, he is hesitant to go on record with a favorite at this point. "Honestly they're all really standing out to me right now," he noted. "They're all great schools. Academically and football-wise they're all great."

Boyer plans to decide "before Christmas" following his visits. "[I'm looking for] the best feel overall, but there are a bunch of things that are a factor. A big part of it is the visit and I got a feel for Northwestern and Wake."

Tonight, Deacon recruiting coordinator Ray McCartney will be in New Jersey on an in-home with the Boyer family.
