Richmond Hears From High Majors

Akeem Richmond was among a number of talented underclassmen at the Bojangles Shootout in Charlotte last week. The 6-foot, 165-pound PG has a mature game and showed why he's already gaining interest from a number of high-major schools.

The Southern Lee standout has a smooth game. He knocks down jumpers with ease and has one of the more developed mid-range games in high school basketball as just as sophomore.

"Last year my game was three pointers," Akeem Richmond said. "This year I'm trying to hit step-ins and drive to the basket."

The next step for Richmond is to learn the point guard position. With his size he'll likely project as a point guard at the next level, so he needs to touch up his passing and driving ability.

Richmond has already begun the recruiting process and has taken an abnormal of visits for a sophomore. He's been to North Carolina State, Maryland and Wake Forest. He also plans to trip to Florida and North Carolina soon.

"Maryland is showing the most interest, them and Florida."

He also mentioned Louisville and Georgia Tech were among schools showing interest.
