McMasters Likes Four

It is obvious that Tennessee power forward Carter McMasters is serious about the recruiting process. Midway through his junior season, McMasters has already taken eight unofficial visits and is developing a list of favorites. Among them is Skip Prosser's Wake Forest basketball program.

For Carter McMasters, it's still early, but his recruitment is developing. With trips to Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Virginia Tech, Virginia, Clemson, Wake Forest and Georgia Tech behind him the 6-foot-10, 210-pound power forward has developed a few early leaders.

"They are all really good schools," McMasters said. "I liked Kentucky, Clemson, Wake Forest and Tennessee."

The Chattanooga (TN) Grace Academy standout, who averages 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks, said he is looking at the schools' academics as much as he examines their athletics.

"Record doesn't mean much to me. I look at the schools in particular. I look at academics and the school in general. I look at the basketball team. If they're good that's great I'll try and help them as much as much as I can."

When asked specifically about Wake Forest McMasters cited an assistant coach that has been influential in his recruitment. "I talk to their assistant coach, Coach Battle a lot."

McMasters said he plans on letting the recruiting process play out and isn't ready to make a college decision. This summer he plans to play with the Smyrna Stars on the AAU circuit.
