Johnson Earns Wake Offer

Offensive lineman T. J. Johnson enjoyed his recent camp experience at Wake Forest. It was highlighted by an offer from the Demon Deacons.

"I had a great time at their camp," said the rising senior from Aynor, S.C. "I feel like I improved and I got a good feel for what school was like there. They offered me at the end of the camp, so I'm really excited about that. Wake is definitely a school I'm looking at.

"They pretty much offer the best of both worlds, in terms of academics and football. You know you're going to get a great education there, and they just won the ACC championship, so they're doing a lot of good things on the field."

Defensive ends coach Keith Henry has been responsible for recruiting Johnson to Wake Forest. Last year Aynor had a disappointing season, but Johnson had a solid campaign. At 6-4, 275 pounds, he runs the 40-yard dash in 5.23 seconds and has good footwork. What other schools is he hearing from?

"I've got offers from schools like Duke, Kentucky, NC State, Maryland, Marshall and East Carolina," he said. "There are some others that are pretty interested too. I went to a camp at UNC recently too, so we'll see if they'll offer. Thursday I'm camping at Clemson and Saturday I'm camping at Tennessee. I think that's all I'm going to do. I'll take it easy for the rest of the summer.

"I should know more after I take all my camps and visit a few more schools down the road. Right now everything is kind of up in the air. Of course you want to go somewhere where you can get a good education. I want to be able to get along with the coaches and feel like I fit into the offense and depth chart."
