Ellis Visiting Wake Soon

Derricus Ellis visited one ACC school last weekend, and he plans on visiting another in a few weeks.

The brother of Wake Forest safety Chantz McClinic, Derricus Ellis has the ability to play defensive end, linebacker or fullback at the next level.

"I visited Duke this past weekend and thought it was pretty good," said Ellis. "I'm going to Wake Forest in a few weeks with my brother, probably. I like Wake a lot and think it would be a good fit for me. Playing with my brother wouldn't be the deciding factor necessarily, but it's something I would like to do."

The 6-2, 235-pound prospect from Darlington School in Rome, GA holds offers from both those ACC programs, as well as one from Vanderbilt.

"I haven't visited Vanderbilt yet but I will soon. In fact we've talked about doing it sometime this week. Coach (Bruce) Fowler (defensive coordinator) has been recruiting me and he stays in pretty close contact. Academics is going to be a big factor for me, and that's why I like Wake, Vandy and Duke so much. I feel like my high school has prepared me pretty well for college classes, so I'm looking forward to getting up there."

Wake Forest is recruiting Ellis to play either linebacker or defensive end, while Duke and Vandy have also left open the possibility of playing fullback. A quick, physical and aggressive prospect, Ellis has also attracted the attention of schools like Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia and Georgia Tech.

As a junior last year Ellis rushed 90 times for 567 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also recorded 67 tackles, four sacks and seven tackles for loss.
