Thomas Still Likes Deacs

While they might have their work cut out for them, Wake Forest is still in the picture with Georgia linebacker Chase Thomas.

Chase Thomas, a rising senior at Walton High School in Marietta, Ga. has the quickness to excel at the next level. At 6-4, 210 pounds he lines up at defensive end for his high school squad, but most schools are recruiting him as an outside linebacker. He recently listed a top three of Georgia Tech, LSU and Auburn, but two other schools are still in the picture.

"There are really five that I'm looking at," said Thomas. "Wake is definitely still up there. They really stress their academics and they've been coming on strong lately. I like the coaches a lot and I really like the campus. I've been up there twice and was impressed both times. I went to their game against Virginia Tech last year and had a good time."

Over the past two years for Walton, Thomas has recorded more than 120 tackles and 20 sacks. He has also played a significant role as a tight end and is an honors student who rates academics high on his list of priorities.

"My coaches tell me I'm really strong as a pass rusher and that I have good explosiveness coming off the end. I'm pretty quick and I'm a physical player."

Thomas said he is unsure if he will take all of his allotted official visits, but with Wake Forest in his top five there is a chance he will take one more trip up to Winston-Salem.
