Versatile Lineman Enjoys Wake Camp

Versatile lineman Jarel Lowery received an offer from Wake Forest on Monday. DeaconSports caught up with the rising senior from Paterson Catholic High School in New Jersey and spoke with him about his recent camp.

At 6-2, 292-pounds Jarel Lowery has the ability play offensive or defensive line and the college level and the Wake Forest coaches gave him some appreciated tips at a camp over the weekend.

"I feel like I learned a lot down there," said Lowery. "Their coaches showed us exactly how we'd be lining up in college and they have us some good coaching. They focusued on technique a lot and there were a lot of one on one drills. They're recruiting me as a defensive tackle. I think I did well down there."

Lowery has received offers from Maryland and Wake Forest, and said those two schools are at the top of his list. He is hearing a lot from Boston College, Michigan State and Cincinnati.

"I was real excited to get that offer from Wake," he continued. "I like everything about that school. The coaches, facilities, the players I met while I was down there - it was all cool.

"With Maryland, I like their tradition and their coaching staff a lot. They're real tight down there too. Everybody plays together."

Lowery will spend the coming weeks preparing for his senior season and trying to improve on his bench press max, which is currently about 325. He is not sure how many official visits he will take and does not have a timeframe for his decision.
