Goodman Makes Summer Visits

Offensive lineman Mike Goodman's senior season is still about a month away, but the Florida native has already wrapped up a busy summer that included visits to some of his favorite schools.

The 6-5, 270-pound prospect from Christopher Columbus High School in Miami had a chance to see several schools up close and he spoke with DeaconSports.com about his experiences.

"I had a very busy summer and all in all I'd say they went very successfully," said Goodman. "I only took visits, I didn't participate in any camps. I went to Boston College, then Wisconsin, UM (Miami), FIU and Wake Forest.

"This summer it's basically been the same schools recruiting me. They've been very consistent all along. I've probably narrowed things down a little bit but not enough to give a top five or anything like that. There are still a lot of schools in there."

Goodman reflected a bit on his trip to Wake Forest. "Coach McCartney has been responsible for recruiting me and it was good to get up there," he said. "It was definitely a successful visit. Coach Grobe is definitely a players' coach and I was very impressed with the college. I enjoyed talking to Coach Lobo as well."

When Goodman considers his football future, many variables will factor into his final decision. "Well I plan on taking all of my official visits so I can learn a little bit more, but I haven't set those up yet.

"I'm looking for a school that offers a solid education and doesn't just want me as an athlete. I want to end up at a place where the coaches want men of character, the men of the future. I'd also like to play on a team that's going to win football games."

Goodman does not have a timeframe for his decision. He is rated a three star prospect according to Scout.com.
