Nease DT Commits

Ramon Booi has now made it three Nease Panthers from the class of 08 to commit to Wake Forest. He joins Nease teammates Ted Stachitas and Riley Haynes, each of whom had previously committed to the defending ACC Champion Demon Deacons.

The 6'-5", 319 pound defensive tackle chose Wake over offers from Alabama, LSU, Illinois, and South Carolina among others. Booi pins the decision on the academics offered by Wake Forest, the opportunity to join current teammates as they move on to the next stage of their life as student-athletes, the recruiting of Coach Tommy Elrod, and the meeting held during his unofficial visit two weeks ago between Head Coach Jim Grobe, Booi, and Booi's dad.

"For starters, I get to go play college football with Ted and Riley and that's pretty cool...More importantly, in the end, Wake Forest believes in me as a defensive player and never mentioned playing offense like the others did. They offer the best combination of elite academics and winning football. Their coaching staff is unbelievable. Coach Elrod is awesome, I really like Coach Mac, and Coach Grobe has to be one of the greatest head coaches in all of football. They have a great relationship with our coaches at Nease and I'm just happy to be joining Wake Forest. All my coaches told me I couldn't make a bad decision with the choices I had and I'm really happy about Wake Forest and really happy to get this over with...I am also hopeful that Wake will offer Dalton Faulds, and I think they will and so that would be awesome. Now, I can concentrate on my senior year and our team's success."

Booi is ranked in the Top 100 prospects in Florida by, and Florida Varsity. He is the 4th class of 2008 commitment from St. Johns County and the 5th from the Jacksonville area to commit early to Wake Forest so far this year – the area is recruited for Wake Forest by Coach Tommy Elrod.
