Abbate Impressing In Georgia

Linebacker Jon Abbate may have four teammates who have already verbally committed to top D-1 programs. However, he is the one making all the noise these days with his terrific play. We have tape on the 5-11 linebacker who previously listed Wake Forest as his favorite.

Harrison High School is one of the top football programs in the state of Georgia. 4 of the seniors of the team have already made verbal commitments to top Division 1 schools. Scott Lenahan committed to North Carolina; Paul Oliver committed to Georgia; Jason Evans committed to Penn State, and Tim Cesa committed to Maryland.

However the best player right now may be the one that is getting the least amount of hype. Jon Abbate is 5-11 and 235 pounds. He runs the 40 in the 4.5's and has gotten his bench press up to 400 pounds. He runs a 10.8 hundred meters and can dunk a basketball.

He is more than just an athletic freak; he as a very instinctive football player that hits like a freight train. Abbate had 18 tackles against North Cobb 2 weeks ago, and he played a big part in limiting cross town rival McEachern to less than 70 yards of total offense.

Here is a quick clip of 3 plays that Abbate had in that game against McEachern. In the first clip, he shows off his skills back in coverage. In the next 2, Abbate shows his instincts and burst as he lives in the McEachern backfield.

#52 Jon Abbate
