Wake Leads for West Coast Tight End

Tight end Randi Vines has offers from three programs and Wake Forest currently sits atop his list. Still, the 6-4, 220 pound senior plans to wait a little longer to make his decision.

"I've been hearing from San Diego State and Wake Forest this summer," said Vines. "Both those schools have offered me, and Utah has too. I haven't taken any visits or anything this summer.

"Since early in the summer I've been working out, either on my own or with my team, and I've been doing things with my dad to improve."

Vines said he plans on taking official visits to those three schools, but if he had to decide today Wake would be in a good position.

"I'd say Wake is standing out right now. I used to live in Virginia and my mom is out there. I like the South, and I like the state of North Carolina a lot too. The location would be good, and they have a good program."

That said, Vines may be waiting on two other schools. "I'm still looking at Florida State and Virginia Tech, hoping they offer me. It's okay if they don't but I'd like them to. I grew up a Florida State fan, so they're a childhood favorite. When I lived in Virginia I would go up to Tech because it was only about 30 minutes from home.

"But right now Wake is definitely my favorite. I'll take some officials and decide whenever I feel ready."

Vines has the ability to play tight end or defensive end at the college level. He is rated a two star prospect by Scout.com.
