With offers from Iowa State, Wake Forest, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, and Western Michigan, Ellington certainly has many options. Wake Forest remains one of his top choices however, thanks largely to the Demon Deacons' elite academics and a hometown atmosphere.
"I just know it is an up and coming program," Ellington said. "Coach Grobe is one of the best in the nation right now. I went down to the camp and loved it. It's a small school where you get to know everyone and I just really loved the atmosphere."
Ellington's mother accompanied him on his initial visit to Wake Forest. He will take his official visit to Wake Forest alone, however. "My mother came with me to camp but she said I should see how I like it on my own for the official visit since I'll be the one out on my own next year. She's already seen Wake Forest and she loves them because of the academics."
Although Ellington plans to take three official visits at this point, he may make a decision earlier if the right opportunity presents itself. "If after one of my visits, it's the right place, I won't hesitate to make a decision. As of now, I'd say [I'll decide in] the middle of the season."
Last season, Ellington amassed 53 tackles defensively along with 5 interceptions. He also caught 60 passes for over 1,100-yards and 14 touchdowns. This season, Ellington will play linebacker and quarterback for Homewood-Flossmoor High School.
