Woods: "It Was Great..."

Wake Forest basketball's trio of verbal commitments from the class of 2008 was in Winston-Salem this past weekend for their official visits. After returning home, commitment Tony Woods spoke with DeaconSports about his visit.

"It was great," Tony Woods said, "and I'm looking forward to coming in next year and getting going at Wake Forest. We all had a real good time there. It was me, Ty [Walker] and Farouq [Aminu] and of course we hung out all weekend. A guy [Reggie Bullock] did come on his unofficial and Ty knew him."

Woods, who arrived in Winston-Salem along with close friend, fellow Wake commitment, and future Demon Deacon teammate Al-Farouq Aminu, hung out with the team, attended the Demon Deacons' football game against UNC, saw the campus again, and attended the Black & Gold scrimmage.

"The highlight was probably the Black & Gold scrimmage," Woods noted. "It gave me a look at what was already there and what is coming. They have good guards and wings and looked real good. They're young and they need another inside presence."

"The 2nd best thing besides that was that one guy got up clapping when we came in and the next thing you know, the gym was up clapping for us. That felt good. Some of the guys were saying the whole AT&T thing which was cool."

After his visit, Woods noted that he plans to sign with Wake Forest in November, likely at his school. In the meantime, Woods and his Rome High School teammates will begin to prepare for their senior season. "We actually start practice on Monday and I think we'll be looking good," he said.
