Stachitas Aiming at a State Title

For a second straight season, Demon Deacon quarterback commitment Ted Stachitas has helped lead his Nease High School team deep into the state playoffs. Last season, Nease High was state runner-ups. This year, Nease has won their first two playoff games heading into a showdown with Seabreeze High on Friday.

"Its been going really well," Ted Stachitas said of his team's season to date. "We're [11-1] right now and won our playoff game this week. Out only loss is by one point on the road."

Stachitas, a 6' senior, believes he has put together a solid senior season through the team's first 12 games. "I've done pretty well," he noted. "I've done better sitting in the pocket and waiting. I've thrown some interceptions that I'm not proud of but I'm doing well overall."

Although Stachitas is towards the end of his senior campaign, he still continues to work on his game while working towards a potential state title. "Right now, I'm focused on winning the state but on a personal level I'm working on a few things," he said. "Mainly, I'm working on staying in the pocket and making better reads and decisions."

To date, Stachitas has been to Wake Forest just once this season, the Demon Deacons' match-up with Nebraska. "I went to the Nebraska game at the beginning of the year but haven't been back yet," he noted. "I talk to the coaches on the phone one time per week and I'll take my visit to Wake Forest after our season."

Stachitas has already met NCAA academic standards and has been cleared to play next season by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
