Deacons Await Word On Grobe

Media outlets across Arkansas are reporting that current Demon Deacon head football coach Jim Grobe is expected to be named the head coach at the University of Arkansas on Thursday.

The Morning News of Northwest Arkansas reported on Wednesday evening that Coach Grobe would accept the head coaching position at Arkansas. The same paper reported that the Razorback Foundation approved a package for Coach Grobe worth an estimated 2.2 million dollars per year over five years.

Other Arkansas sources have also reported that the Razorbacks have hired Coach Grobe. One Arkansas recruit has also noted that Arkansas was slated to hold a 2:00 EST press conference on Thursday to announce Coach Grobe as their head coach.

Although sources at Arkansas are adamant about Coach Grobe's departure from Wake Forest, DeaconSports has been unable to verify from WFU sources that this is a 100% done deal as of 1:00 AM on Thursday morning. Sources at Wake Forest can confirm the talks with Arkansas but have been unable to confirm that Grobe has agreed to and has signed to coach the University of Arkansas Razorbacks at this point in time. DeaconSports will continue to monitor developments in this situation as it unfolds on Thursday.

Grobe has compiled a 45-39 record at Wake Forest and has taken the Demon Deacons to an Orange Bowl appearance as Wake's head coach.
