Gold Team Wins Scrimmage

Wake Forest held its annual Black-Gold scrimmage Saturday morning in Reynolds Gym on-campus. The team coached by Coach Prosser, the Gold team, stomped the Black 72-39.

The Gold team won the Black – Gold Scrimmages yesterday in front or an almost full Reynolds Gym at 9:00 in the morning on Saturday.

The scrimmage included three ten minute quarters, with different players playing on different teams from quarter to quarter, but the Gold team still won each game.

Prosser, coaching the Gold team won each quarter with the scores being 31-11, 20-9, and 21-19 for a final score of 72-39.

The three sophomores on this years roster all had great games. Taron Downey scored 17 points including 3-3 from behind the arc. Vytas Danelius and Jamaal Levy added 15 and 10 points respectively. Levy also added 9 rebounds to lead all players in that category.

However, the standout from the game was freshman Trent Strickland who led all scorers with 20 points. Freshmen Richard Joyce added 14 points and Chris Ellis added 12 points.

Justin Gray, who was the star of Midnight Madness was hurt during the first quarter when his head apparently hit the floor. He appeared to be fine but did not return to see action.

Pat Kelsey, the Wake Forest assistant coach played in the game as well.
