Multiple Honors For Mabry

There is no doubt that super sophomore Tayshawn Mabry is one of the best players in North Carolina. Mabry had an outstanding season that ended with him receiving multiple honors. DeaconSports.com recently spoke with Mabry about his season and where he stands in the recruiting process.

It would be hard to find many players in North Carolina that had a better year than Tayshawn Mabry in '07-'08. The sophomore from Rocky Mount filled up the stat sheet as he averaged 24 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 5 blocks per game. Mabry also received multiple post season honors for his play. He was named a 3-A All-State performer as well as conference player of the year.

After playing so well this past season, there is no wonder Mabry is getting a lot of attention from high-major schools. "I am hearing a lot from Wake Forest, Notre Dame, NC State and Maryland," Mabry said. "State is my only offer so far but I am also beginning to hear from Kansas and Kansas State. Also, UNC came to watch my first round playoff game this year."

Mabry will have a busy spring and summer which began this past weekend at Dave Telep's Carolina Challenge. "I will also be playing for the CP3 All-Stars this summer and I may try to make it to the Nike Hoops Jamboree."

At this point, Mabry claims no leader in his recruitment and said he will make a decision when the right offer comes along. Mabry also stated he talks to Coach Muse from Wake quite often and Wake is definitely keeping up with him.

With his play this past season, expect more offers to come rolling in for this talented sophomore sooner rather than later.
