Delon is a great pickup for the Deacon program both on and off of the field. The 6'4 wide receiver is a big target for quarterbacks and has proven to be very reliable in his senior season. Delon has 41 receptions for 685 and eight scores in just ten games this season.
"Delon is a big receiver," Butts said. "He's 6-4 190 and has good hands and is a big target. He runs real good patterns too. He's a really good receiver for us."
Although Butts does not time his players in the 40, he did venture to guess Lowe's 40-time. "I don't time my players, but I would imagine he has around a 4.6."
While the Deacs were the only school to offer so far in the process, many other schools were recruiting Butts hard. "He had no other offers when he committed," Butts said, "but North Carolina State was looking at him as well as UNC, East Tennessee State, Richmond, Appalachian State, and East Carolina. Wake was the first to offer and that's where he wanted to go all along."
"He took an unofficial visit with his dad and they showed him around and he loved it," Butts continued. "That's where he wanted to be."
While Butts is a great athlete on the field, he is a great person off of it. "Delon is a good character," Butts noted. "He's a strong young man who works good with other people. He's a friendly, nice young man with integrity."
He also has his classroom work in line. "All's ok [in the classroom,]" Butts said. "He's a qualifier."
