WFU Baseball Schedule Released

Wake Forest has released their baseball schedule for the 2003 season.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Wake Forest baseball team announced its 2003 baseball schedule on Wednesday. The schedule features four of the eight teams that qualified for last year's College World Series in Omaha. In all, six of Wake Forest's opponents this spring were participants in the 2002 NCAA Tournament.

The home schedule includes weekend series against Atlantic Coast Conference rivals Clemson, Duke, NC State and Virginia. The Deacons will travel to a four-team round robin tournament to be played the first weekend of March at the Metrodome in Minneapolis, home of the American League Central Champion Minnesota Twins. That tournament features Nebraska and Notre Dame, both College World Series teams last year, plus the host school, Minnesota.

Wake Forest opens its season on February 11 at home against Appalachian State. The Deacons begin ACC play on the road at Maryland on March 14.

Head Coach George Greer begins his 16th season at the helm of Wake Forest baseball. He returns all nine starters in the field including All-American senior outfielders Adam Bourassa and Ryan Johnson plus 12 pitchers including junior All-American Kyle Sleeth.

The schedule, including opponents, dates and especially game times, is subject to change. Changes to the schedule will be posted at as necessary.
