Muncy already has one big offer and is getting heavy interest from most of the ACC and a few SEC schools. "Wake Forest has stepped up and offered me a full scholarship. I am also hearing a lot from Boston College, North Carolina, Virginia, Duke, Tennessee and Vanderbilt."
Muncy, who plays quarterback in high school, says that he is staying in close contact with the Demon Deacons tight end coach. "I keep in touch with Coach Russ on a regular basis. I actually talked with him a few days ago and we exchange e-mails almost daily. Coach Russ tells me they see me as a Dallas Clark type of tight end. A guy that can line up on the line, split out, and even line up in the backfield. They like me as pass catching tight end."
This idea doesn't sit too well with one of the other coaches. "Every time I visit Wake, Coach Lambert jokes that he is going to get me on defense," Muncy noted.
With Spring here, Muncy has seen his schedule fill up quickly. "I am going to Tennessee for their junior day and I am also planning to make a trip to Vanderbilt at some point." Muncy, who has visited Wake on a few occasions, is planning to get down to Winston-Salem soon. "I am going to go to Wake to catch a spring practice and talk with their strength and conditioning coach. My grandfather is very excited about visiting Wake with me. I am also going to a spring game somewhere, maybe at Wake but I am not sure."
Muncy seems to have a clear leader at this point in his recruitment. "Wake is definitely looking good. They are at the top of my list for sure." Muncy also wants to get his decision behind him before his senior season. "I am looking to make my decision before the season begins, probably before the summer. This decision is very exciting for more as well as my community. I come from a very small town and everyone is very excited."
Muncy also indicated that he will be at the Nike combine in Chapel Hill and may make it to Wake for their summer camp. He stated that the Wake coaches told him he did not have to attend camp but he would like to go and get 1-on-1 instruction from the coaches.
With his versatility, size, and speed look for big things from Matt Muncy.
